Tacoma Refugee Choir is excited to announce that we will be hosting a concert entitled “The Return of Live Singing: A Drive-in Concert” at LeMay America’s Car Museum’s Haub Family Field on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm to allow the public to join in a unique singing concert while maintaining current advised safety protocols.
Due to Covid-19, we will be using radio and wireless mics to transmit sound allowing choir members and audience the option of remaining within the safety of their vehicles for this event. Reserved tickets are required to attend the concert. The event link to get your ticket for the event will be available on the website: www.refugeechoir.org. This is a fundraiser for TRC and donations will be requested. All the donations from the concert will be used to support the operation of the choir and to keep choir member’s participation free of charge.
TRC began as a pilot project in August 2016 in partnership with Tacoma Community House with a group of 22 refugees and community members. The program was well received and quickly grew to create a welcoming and affirmative learning experience for over 600 participants from 52 nations along with diverse members from the U.S.
TRC’s mission remains focused on reaching out to the refugee and immigrant community, reaching out to partner organizations and providing a space of love, hope and belonging through creating music that expresses the refugee and immigrant story. The choir uses music as a tool to engage members and open the door for authentic expression, interconnection, and healing.
