On March 15 at UW-Tacoma’s YMCA, we will be hosting our first ever annual symposium, “From Welcoming to Cooperation” to share what music and joy mean for TRC and the specific actions we take to create spaces of welcome and creativity.

We often hear from within and outside our choir that we are creating something special with our music. It is a spirit of welcoming that our community wishes for everyone. We also foster this spirit within our TRC team and our “choir family.” It has taken much action and intentionality to get to this point, and we are still learning. Part of that learning is finding ways to share what we have learned to spark cooperation. Building a welcoming community is everyone’s job – and we need everyone to make it happen.

If you work in the space of arts programming, nonprofit, community-building, mental health research, public health, any kind of institutional decision-making,, or if you just love what TRC does, we think you will find this event very informative. This event is designed to be interactive and participatory. As a takeaway from these sessions, we will co-create a toolkit with participant input that helps build the community we envision and hopefully lead to more cooperation.
