Tacoma Reads: Dreamers Craft and Community Roundtable with Marcelo Hernandez Castillo

Description
Join author Marcelo Hernandez Castillo for a reading of Yuyi Morales’ picture book Dreamers. The reading will be followed by an opportunity for community members to share their own immigration stories and dreams. Kids will learn how to make tissue paper flowers inspired by Dreamers. Craft supplies will be available for pickup one week prior to the event.

Registration is required. Please sign up for the number of craft kits you would like to receive. Registrants will receive a zoom link one hour before the program. Supplies will be available for pick up the week prior to the program. Supplies can be picked up from our eight library locations, or our community partners at Salishan Association. Registrants will be contacted via email to arrange pick up of supplies.
This event is affiliated with Tacoma Reads 2020. Embracing your story gives you power over your own narrative. The titles selected for our community read this year feature personal narratives centered around immigration and the immigrant experience.
