Metro Parks Youth Councils are a new youth leadership opportunity. Each community center will have its own Youth Council focused on community service, planning events, and advocating for youth in their communities. Members will engage in monthly volunteer opportunities, large scale community events, and will be called upon regularly to share their input to make Metro Parks and our community centers better!

Councils will meet twice a month on their assigned days. By joining and committing in this first year, students will have the opportunity to help define what each council will look like and how it will function including setting by-laws, designing leadership positions, holding elections, etc.
The Metro Parks Youth Councils are a dedicated space for Youth Voice. An adult facilitator will be present to guide the team, but the projects, events, and focuses of each council will be a result of what YOU as the youth of Tacoma choose.
Metro Parks Youth Councils are open to youth ages 13-18 who call the Tacoma area home. You will self select the Community Center Council you want to join. We encourage students to choose the center that best represents your chosen community- whether that’s where you attend school, live, work, or play.

Eastside Community Center – Tuesday, October 15  6:30-8pm

People’s Community Center – Wednesday, October 16 6:00-7:30pm

Star Center – Wednesday, October 16, 6:30-8pm
