This special learning opportunity will focus on two growing trends in philanthropy: Social Enterprise and Impact Investing. These tools can help your clients meet their community vision. This session will explore their unique attributes and provide an overview of the legal and social ramifications of each. Our speaker, Dana Brakman Reiser, is a Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School. Professor Brakman Reiser is an expert on law and finance for social enterprises – businesses that pursue a social mission. She authored a comprehensive work on the subject, Social Enterprise Law: Trust, Public Benefit, and Capital Markets (Oxford University Press 2017 with Professor Steven A. Dean). In addition to her work on social enterprise, Professor Brakman Reiser has written extensively on nonprofit accountability and governance. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
