Food: Too Good to Waste Workshop

March 15, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Free and open to everyone!

In Tacoma and throughout the US, the issue of wasted food is much bigger than most people realize. Each year, the average Tacoman throws away 300 lbs. of once edible food, and the average family of four spends $1,600 on food that goes to waste. This not only wastes money and precious resources, but it misses the opportunity to feed the 1 in 7 people in our community who don’t know where their next meal will come from.

Come to learn the facts about wasted food and how you can prevent it at home. You‘ll receive information about the Food: Too Good to Waste Challenge and the resources and opportunities that come with it. Free toolkits will be given out to those who join the challenge.

Brought to you by the City of Tacoma’s Office of Environmental Policy and Sustainability and the Tacoma Pubic Library.
