Every year Communities In Schools of Tacoma (CIST) hosts a luncheon to celebrate our students success and invite attendees to be a part of the CIST story. In 2021, our luncheon is more vital than ever as we work to re-engage students after a year of virtual learning and social distancing.

Did you know it is estimated that in the past year three million students in the U.S. have gone “missing” during the COVID-19 pandemic – not from home, but from virtual school. The impact of the last year on our students, especially for our economically disadvantaged students, already inequitable learning conditions have been exacerbated by the pandemic.

At this event we will be raising support to equip ourselves continue serving our community. It takes all of us to show up for our students. It takes all of us to re-engage these missing students. It takes all of us to keep imagining a better future for our children and working every day to make it happen. It takes all of us to come together to be community builders – creating a community that unlocks students potential and breaks down barriers.

We all have a part to play.
