2019 Power of Play Lunch

September 17, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

$10 – $500

Enjoy a delicious lunch while learning more about the Children’s Museum of Tacoma and the ongoing work of honoring children in our community. You will also hear from keynote speaker, Gever Tulley. Gever is the author of Fifty Dangerous Things (You should let your child do) and the founder of Tinkering School, afterschool and summer programs involving the use of real tools, materials, and problems to encourage students’ love of learning, curiosity about the world, tenacity to think big, and persistence to do amazing things. Most recently, Gever created Brightworks, a K-12 private school in San Francisco where students explore an idea from multiple perspectives with the help of real-world experts, tools, and experiences; collaborate on projects driven by their curiosity; and share their findings with the world. Rather than tests, grades, and homework, Brightworks supports students as they create a detailed portfolio of their work.

All proceeds from ticket sales and gifts at the Lunch go toward accessible Museum programming such as Pay As You Will Admission and Play to Learn, a free readiness kindergarten program offered at 25 sites throughout Pierce County.
