Funding

GTCF’s Board of Directors adopted a strategic framework in July 2022 that guides discretionary funding to focus on four building blocks of generational wealth: housing, access to capital, thriving children & youth, and civic voice & power.

UNDERSTANDING GTCF’S FUNDING

As a community foundation, GTCF’s delivers philanthropic investments to community in a number of ways.

Individuals, families, and agencies can establish funds to support the causes that matter most to them. GTCF’s Fund Advisors deliver consistent grants to causes and organizations in Pierce County and across the country. GTCF supports Fund Advisors through fund stewardship and offering opportunities and pathways for Fund Advisors to achieve greater impact through the principles of continuous learning, trust-based philanthropy, racial equity, and relationship-driven community knowledge.

As a Catalyst, GTCF also leverages discretionary funding to make strategic philanthropic investments that build momentum of existing and potential community movements. These investments range from grants and technical assistance to communications and networking.

As a Connector, GTCF aligns investments from many different funders. This can include individual, family, corporate, government, regional, and national funders. Funding may be delivered through GTCF Fund Advisor grants, discretionary grants through GTCF, and direct grants from partner funders.

As a Knowledge Facilitator, GTCF practices continuous learning in partnership with community organizations, networks, agencies, and leaders to surface and amplify knowledge about the needs and opportunities in Pierce County. GTCF develops accessible and actionable synthesis of this knowledge to catalyze community identification and removal of system barriers rooted in racism around four key building blocks of generational wealth: Housing, Thriving Children and Youth, Access to Capital, Civic Voice and Power.
