When did you start working with Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF)?

I joined the Ambassador Committee in 2019 and the Board of Directors in 2022.

Briefly describe what you do in your role with GTCF

I am currently a member of the Board of Directors and the Ambassador Committee, and I am participating in the Leave 10 South Sound initiative.

What is the most exciting part of your role with GTCF?

I like being part of a forward-thinking organization that is an effective convener on critical aspects of philanthropy reform, such as elevating community voice and overcoming systemic racism.

What other jobs or positions have you held?

I have worked professionally in five nonprofit leadership roles over the course of 35 years, currently as Executive Director of Associated Ministries in Tacoma. I serve on the Boards of the Affordable Housing Consortium and Human Services Coalition, and the Steering Committee of the Coalition to End Homelessness.

Outside of GTCF, what enjoyable activity do you engage in? What brings you joy?

I love reading, hiking, dogs, travel (I’ve been to 30 countries), and mentoring others.

What activity, place, or event do you recommend other people check out in Pierce County?

Whether we’re hiking in Mount Rainier, dining on the waterfront, or visiting the Fort Steilacoom dog park, my wife and I often feel like we’re on a vacation in the most beautiful part of the USA. We are blessed to be able to live here!
