Giving back to your community is an opportunity to live your values, but it can be difficult to figure out where to begin. The good news is that you don’t have to do it alone.

As a community foundation, GTCF advises many different donors and funders, each with their own vision, values, and goals. They all share a commitment to their community, but many people also share the challenge of navigating decisions about supporting the issues, causes, and organizations that matter to them.

This Giving Guidebook can bring generations together to talk about what’s important and how to transform intention into action

Based on conversations with donors, professional advisors, and development professionals, and with input from GTCF’s Board and Board Alumni, GTCF developed a simple, entertaining Giving Guidebook to help you map out your unique giving journey. The solution to many people’s challenges can be discovered by drawing on important experiences from the past or through thoughtful conversations with the people who know them best.

GTCF’s Chief Philanthropy Officer, Stacey Guadnola, shared what inspired the Giving Guidebook, “We hear from Fund Advisors that they prioritize conversations and decision-making about giving back towards the end of the calendar year, when families and friends gather to celebrate the holidays. It’s an opportunity to share values and dreams and talk about how future generations can carry a legacy of generosity forward. This Giving Guidebook is an activity that can bring generations together to talk about what’s important and how to transform intention into action.”

Whether you use the Giving Guidebook on your own or with a crowd, you’re not by yourself. GTCF developed the prompts to help you identify the values, goals, issues, and approach that can drive your giving. And GTCF can be your partner when you’re ready to get rolling to make those big ideas a reality.
