When did you start working with Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF)?
January 2024
Briefly describe what you do in your role with GTCF
Working in the community, my role is to collaborate with donors, professional advisors, and the GTCF team to inspire catalytic philanthropy in Pierce County.
What is the most exciting part of your role with GTCF?
I am most excited to work with a variety of agencies and funders to support the important work being done in Pierce County.
What other jobs or positions have you held?
I enjoyed a wonderful 25+ years in fund development at Pacific Lutheran University, and several years prior to that at the University of Puget Sound. I have served on several local nonprofit boards, including Hilltop Artists, Harbor History Museum, and Peace Community Center.
Outside of GTCF, what enjoyable activity do you engage in? What brings you joy?
I enjoy walking for fun and exercise, cooking, traveling, and working in my yard.
What activity, place, or event do you recommend other people check out in Pierce County?
I am a big fan of the food scene in Tacoma (though I have lots of places to try!) as well as walks along Ruston Way.
What is the most inspiring book that you have read and why?
I am not a voracious reader, though I would like to be, but at the moment I'd say "Boys in the Boat" (though the movie was a little disappointing!) I loved the thrill of the races, the drama of the hero overcoming his adversity, the social challenges of the era.
