Stadium High School
Scholarship Program
At Stadium High School  

The following scholarships are available to graduating students at Stadium High School.  

The Albert D. Hayes College Scholarship: Established to honor Al Hayes, who served as principal of Stadium High School from 1962 to 1978. He is remembered for his relationship with students, teachers and the community.  

Eligibility Requirements:
             • Current graduating senior at Stadium High School.
             • Must enroll at a two-year or four-year college or university.    

The Paul Healy Memorial Scholarship: Established in 1985 as a memorial to Paul Healy by his beloved family.  

Eligibility Requirements:
             • Current graduating senior at Stadium High School. 
             • Must have demonstrated talent in the field of literature, poetry and writing. 
             • Must have demonstrated financial need. 
             • Active participation in Associated Student Body shall be considered if applicants are equal.  

The William W. Kilworth Scholarship Fund: Established in 1985 under the terms of the last will and testament of William W. Kilworth.   

Eligibility Requirements:
             • Current graduating seniors from Clover Park High School, Lincoln High School,
               Stadium High School, or Wilson High School. 
             • Must enroll during the next fall term after graduation at the University of Puget Sound,
               University of Washington, Washington State University, University of Oregon or
               Oregon State University.
             • Must demonstrate financial need.    

The Jack Lloyd Band Scholarship Fund: Established in 2000, by the Stadium Boosters Club.  

Eligibility Requirements:
             • Current graduating senior from Stadium High School. 
             • Must enroll at a two-year or four-year college. 
             • Plan to major or minor in music.
             • Must have been a member of the Stadium Band for three years, a Concert or
               Symphonic Band member, a participant in solo or ensemble contests,
               and an exemplary student with exceptional musical ability.    

The George A. Lund Scholarship Fund: Established in 1991 by the Puget Corporation to honor George Lund’s many contributions to the community. George Lund graduated from Stadium High School in 1933, founded Puget Corporation in 1946 and retired as Chairman of the Board in July 1991.  

Eligibility Requirements: 
             • Current graduating senior at Stadium High School.
             • Must enroll at the University of Washington to pursue a career in engineering, business, 
               math, or science.
             • Aptitude, academic performance, and character will be considered.  

The Victor L. and Elise W. Lyon Scholarship Fund: Established in 1992, by Elise W. Lyon as a memorial to her beloved husband, Victor. Victor L. Lyon was born in Tacoma in 1918. He and Elise married in 1947. Mrs. Lyon wanted to perpetuate the community involvement she and her husband shared for so many years. This scholarship award rotates each year between high schools within Pierce County.  

Eligibility Requirements: 
             • Current graduating senior from a Pierce County High School.
             • Must enroll at a vocational, two-year, or four-year year college of university. 
             • Must demonstrate financial need.  

The Paul Margelli Memorial Scholarship Fund: Established in 1984 by Margaret Arendt who was one of Paul Margelli’s pupils in the early 1960s. Mr. Margelli was the Stadium High School choral director for 25 years and founded the Stadium Madrigal Singers, a widely acclaimed group specializing in music of the Elizabethan era.  

Eligibility Requirements:
             • Current graduating senior from a Pierce County High School.
             • Plan to study music at a vocational, two-year, or four-year year college of university.   

The Marv Shain Endowment Scholarship Fund: Established in 2000 by the Stadium Booster Club.  

Eligibility Requirements:
             • Current graduating senior from Stadium High School.
             • Must have attended Stadium High School for a minimum of three years.
             • Must have maintained a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
             • Must have been involved in the fine or performing arts and/or other student activities while          
               attending Stadium High School. 
             • Must enroll at a post-secondary school.
